To set a manager to act as a delegate you need to view the profile of the User that will act as the Line Manager's delegate in Organisation and Users. From their profile add the User they are to be a delegate for.
For example, Fiona Nance is a Line Manager (Primary Manager) but is going on Sabbatical. During this time, Fiona will delegate her Line Manager responsibilities on the LMS to another Line Manager, Heather Moore (Delegate Manager).
The Delegate Manager must have the Line Manager system role selected and their Reporting Scope must be set to All Reports.
When setting up the delegation, it is possible to state whether you can view only the Primary Manager's activity, the Primary Manager's Direct Reports or All Reports.
Navigate to Organisation and Users and find the User who will be the Delegate Manager. Click on their Username to go into their Profile (see view Users if you're unsure how to do this).
Click on the Line Manager tab on the left-hand side.
Click on the Add Delegation button.
You will be taken to a two-step wizard.
Search for the Primary Manager this User will be the delegate for by typing their name into the Filter box and clicking Search or pressing the Enter key on your keyboard.
Select the radio button next to their name to select them.
Click on the Next button at the bottom of the screen.
Choose the Reporting Scope you want the Delegate to have:
|This user only||This option allows the Delegate Manager to view the Primary Manager’s training plan through the My Staff page and My Team Activity Dashboard. The Primary Line Manager will also appear on the Delegate’s reports|
|Direct Reports||This option allows the Delegate Manager to view and report on the Primary Manager and the people they directly manage.|
|All Reports||This option allows the Delegate Manager to view and report on the Primary Manager, the people who report directly to them and the people who report to the Primary Manager's Direct Reports, i.e. all tiers of Users.|
Click on the Finish button at the bottom of the screen.
The Delegation will be set, and will be displayed in the User's Delegation list on the Line Manager tab as shown below.
To remove the delegation click on the Remove link to the right of the Primary Manager's name.
