Your Learning Management System ('LMS') organises Users into Organisations containing a hierarchy of Organisation Units. Organisations are a way to partition Users into distinct groups for security and Reporting purposes. Organisations can be used to denote separate companies or divisions of a global enterprise.
Each Organisation can manage its own Users and content and potentially have its own branding and some configuration. Organisation Units can represent your Organisation and departmental structure.
For smaller Organisations, having one Organisation broken down into Units is usually sufficient. The functionality to create new Organisations is not available for our multi-tenancy clients.
When partitioning your Organisation Structure into multiple Organisations, consideration must be given to who Users will be reporting on and their visibility across the Organisation Structure.
An Organisation is the highest element of the Organisation Structure for your LMS and a User who has the Reporting Scope to see 'All Organisations' has the highest reporting level and will have visibility across all Organisations, Organisation Units and the staff within.
