If you are new to using Spaces, you can read an Introduction to Resources.
Super Administrators can create new Spaces. Navigate to Resources via the Menu.
Hover over the Tools dropdown menu and click Create Space.
You will be presented with the following options.
Create your Space using the following guidelines:
Name | Mandatory - give your Space a name. This doesn't have to be unique. |
Code | Optional - if you want, you can give your Space an identifying code. |
Display order |
If you would like your Spaces to appear in a particular order, set the number here, i.e. 1 would put the Space at the top of the list. Note: you must set the display order on all Spaces, or this will not work correctly. If all fields are left blank or set to 1 (which is the default), Spaces will be displayed in alphabetical order. |
Description | Mandatory - give your Space a description. |
What will this space be used for? |
Activity Resources - this type of Space can be added to a Pathway as a Resource, for example course material or additional reading. Knowledge Sharing - a general Space to store information, for example FAQs, contact information, communications and announcements. News & Announcements - this type of Space is no longer used, but functions in the exact same way as a Knowledge Sharing Space. Note: you will not be able to change the Space type after creating the Space. |
Disable Comments | Users can post comments on Pages. Tick this box to disable this feature for the whole Space. |
Who can view this space? |
Specific users - Pages within the Space will only be visible to those who have been given explicit permission in the Permissions tab of the Page. All users - all of your LMS Users will be able to view the Space from the Resources area, or from wherever it is linked to elsewhere in the site. Public - the Space can be accessed without logging into the LMS, if the URL of the Space is known to the User. |
