You can set the recommended CPD time a User will receive upon completing an activity within the LMS. When the User has completed the activity it will then appear in their CPD log with the relevant time recorded against it.
Navigate to Content Manager via the Menu.
Search for the Activity you would like to tag for CPD and click its name.
Click on the Advanced Settings tab.
Under CPD in the Advanced Settings tab you can set the following:
Recommended CPD Hours |
This should be represented as a decimal, so for example a 30 minute activity would be 0.5 recommended CPD hours, and a 15 minute activity would be 0.25 recommended CPD hours. If you are viewing a Pathway, you may see the option to Reset the CPD. Click Reset to recalculate the recommended CPD hours for the Pathway based on the total CPD hours of the child Activities within. After clicking Reset, Edit will appear. Click Edit to override the calculated total and input a customised figure. If you are using a Time Spent CPD scheme, CPD is capped at this figure - if the User spends more time than the recommended CPD hours, they will only receive the amount specified in the recommended CPD hours box. If they spend less time than the recommended CPD hours, they will receive the lower amount reflecting the time they actually spent. If you are using an Hours CPD scheme, CPD is always awarded according to the amount in the recommended CPD hours box regardless of the time actually spent. Take a look at our guide Create a CPD Scheme for more guidance on Time Spent, Hours and Value based schemes. |
CPD Value |
Use this option if you are using a Value based CPD scheme. As above, you can enter a customised total or use a calculated total (if applicable). |
CPD Activity Type |
Choose the activity type from the list of dropdown options that best represents the activity you are assigning CPD for. For example, for an Event you might choose Lecture or Seminar. Choose None if the Activity Type is not required for your scheme. |
CPD Category |
Choose from the list of dropdown options: None - This option is selected if you are not assigning CPD to the activity, or if the Category is not required for your scheme. Other Categories my vary according to how your CPD scheme has been set up. However, common categories are: Structured - Structured CPD is when learning or an activity has been designed to meet a learning objective or development need. Unstructured - Unstructured CPD meets a learning objective or development need, but has not been specifically undertaken for this purpose. |
Click Save to apply any changes made to the activity. There may be additional options available if these have been set in the Scheme Rules.
A User can view how much time has been spent on different Activity Types and Categories in the CPD Log.
Navigate to the CPD Log via the Menu. This is displayed on the left hand side.
