Navigate to Organisation and Users via the Menu.
Click on the Organisation Unit you wish to manage the portlets for (you will need to repeat this for each Organisation Unit you want to apply the same configuration to).
Then click on the Portlets tab on the left.
Positioning your Portlets
The Portlet page is laid out in three columns.
To see the positioning icons, ensure the Fixed position tick box is unticked on your portlet.
Use the left and right arrows to move the portlet to the bottom of column 1, 2 or 3. Then use the up and down arrows until it is in the correct position.
Once in position, tick the Fixed position box to hide the positioning icons then click on Save.
Removing a portlet
To see the positioning icons, ensure the Fixed position tick box is unticked on your portlet.
Click on the X icon to remove the portlet.
You will be able to find and reinstate it again from the Add Portlet button.
Optional Portlet Settings
There are a variety of options you can apply to your Portlets. An explanation of each option is provided below:
Mandatory |
You must tick this option for the Portlet to show on the Home Page. It then removes the X icon so the portlet can't be removed unless unticked. |
Fixed position |
Hides the positioning icons. |
Collapsed by default |
Some Portlets, like My Activities and Discussions, expand to show further information pulled from the relevant area of the LMS when you click on its title. When this option is ticked, the Portlet will be collapsed as default, requiring the User to click on it to expand. Removing this tick will expand the Portlet as default. The User would still be able to collapse the portlet but it will return to the expanded state each time the page is refreshed. |
Lock expand/collapse toggle |
This option will lock the Portlet according to the previous setting meaning the User is unable to expand or collapse the Portlet from the default view. |
Show Help Tooltip |
Some Portlets may have a contextual help tool tip, indicated by a ? icon. If available, this option will show or hide the icon on the portlet. |
Open portlet link in a new tab |
When the User clicks on the Portlet it will open the area as a new page while keeping the existing Home Page open on a different window. |
