A Pathway is a collection of Activities packaged together in one area. This enable you to register Users onto the entire Pathway rather than each separate Activity.
Settings can be applied to the specific Activities to determine the status of the entire Pathway using roll-up settings and/or you can control the order in which a User has to complete the Activities.
The Activities you include in the Pathway can be in any format, such as Documents, eLearning or eCreator courses, Forms, Videos, Assessments or even other Pathways (thus creating Pathways within Pathways, known as nested Pathways. The maximum number of nested Pathway levels is 6). A Pathway is useful way to build a course on a specific subject or for a certain audience. For example you can create an induction Pathway for new joiners.
The easiest way for an Administrator to create a Pathway is to use the Pathway Builder to add items to the basket and then save it as one complete Pathway.
Diagnostic Assessment tools can be added and used as a pre-assessment to diagnose a User's current knowledge prior to completing any Activities. Following this, they only need to complete the topic areas where there is an identified learning need.
Similarly, you can use the items you have added to your basket to build a Pathway Assessment, which can be based on all Activities or the Diagnostic Assessment results. The User will attempt the Pathway Assessment once they've completed the required learning Activities and allows you to assess what knowledge they've retained.
An alternative way to create a Pathway is via Content Manager using the Create tab. You will set up the Pathway first, then pull in the Activities you want to include and add any Assessments using the Add Diagnostic Tools button.
Pathway Themes can be applied to make for a more engaging experience for your Users.
