Play the video below if you would prefer to see how to do this.
Locate the Activity you would like to create a Registration Rule for and go into its Administration Area (see Find content in Find Learning or Find content in Content Manager if you're unsure how to do this).
You will be taken to the Common Tasks area. Click on Add Users.
Alternatively, click on the Users tab on the left-hand side. Then click Register.
You will be taken to a 3-step wizard.
Step 1
Choose the Registration Rule option and click Next.
Step 2
As we want to register new joiners, click the Filter by employment date box.
For this rule, we're going to start registering new joiners who have Started from today, however, you could choose a different date if you wish.
Click on Next.
Step 3
We'll now decide when the rule will start running.
When to register |
For this example, we'll select overnight or next login (you can however choose a different date option). We want our rule to keep running each day, and pick up any new Users added to the organisation. To do this we tick the Check rule automatically option and set the timescale to Indefinitely. This means the rule will keep running indefinitely and not stop on a particular date. |
Due Date |
Select Specify a date from when activity is assigned and select a timescale - we'll use 1 month in this example. |
Existing Registrations |
As this rule will be for new joiners, there is no reason to reset the progress for existing registrations under the Existing Registrations heading so we will leave the Reset Progress checkbox unticked. Please note: should an employee leave and then return to your employment, their status would not be reset automatically if the option to reset progress for existing registrations isn't ticked. However, it is possible to do this manually in this instance. Should this happen frequently (i.e. contractors) then you should consider selecting this option. |
Your rule should look like the below screenshot once you have selected the above options.
Click Finish to save the rule, which will then be ready to run overnight or when Users who meet the relevant criteria next log in to the LMS.
