You can assign a Delegate Manager from either Managers profile.
The Delegate Manager must have the Line Manager system role selected to be able to view the My Team and My Team Activity areas. They will effectively be a temporary or alternative Line Manager for the User and, depending on the reporting scope you set, anyone that reports in to them.
From the Manager's profile
Navigate to Organisation and Users and search for the Manager. Click on their Username to go into their Profile (see view Users if you're unsure how to do this).
Click on the Reporting Lines tab on the left-hand side.
In the below example, we are assigning Seymore Work as a Delegate Manager for Ethan Moore.
Click on the Add Manager button.
The Add Manager window will open.
In the top box, search for the Delegate Manager's name then select Delegation from the Select relationship dropdown.
Once selected, use the Select reporting scope dropdown to choose the reporting scope to determine which of the Manager's Reports the Delegate Manager will have visibility of, either Direct Reports or All Reports. Alternatively, choose This user only if the Delegate Manager should only see the User's activity and not their Reports' activity.
This user only | This option allows the Delegate Manager to view only the other Manager's activity but they will not have access to any of their reports. The Manager will also appear on the Delegate Manager’s reports. |
Direct Reports | This option allows the Delegate Manager to view and report on the other Manager they are delegating for, and the people they directly manage. |
All Reports | This option allows the Delegate Manager to view and report on the other Manager they are delegating for, the people who report directly to them and the people who report to their Direct Reports and on down through the hierarchy. |

The Delegate Manager will now be shown in the list of People managing... but with a Delegation relationship.
In our example Seymore Work is shown in the People managing Ethan Moore as a Delegation relationship. Seymore has the reporting scope to see Ethan's activity and that of his Direct Reports.
From the Delegate Manager's profile
Navigate to the Delegate Manager's profile in Organisation and Users (see view Users if you're unsure how to do this).
Click on Add Reporting Line.
The Add Reporting Line window opens.
Select Delegation from the Select relationship dropdown menu in the top box.
Search for the Manager they are to delegate for in the box below then choose the level of visibility over that User, and their Reports, from the Select reporting scope dropdown (see guidance above).
Click Confirm.
The Manager will now be showing as one of the People reporting to... with a Delegation relationship.
In our example Ethan Moore is shown as one of the People reporting to Seymore Work as a Delegation relationship. Seymore has the reporting scope to see Ethan's activity and that of his Direct Reports.
To view the Manager and the people that report to them, click on the Manager's name.
