By default, every entry in a User's CPD Log will have a Development Need, Learning Outcomes and Reflective Statement box:
The CPD Scheme Field Options tab allows you to customise these boxes, such as making them mandatory.
Mandatory Fields
By default, the Development Need and Learning Outcome are voluntary fields, however, you can make them mandatory by ticking the corresponding boxes.
Tick the Display CPD Year box if you would like a User to be able to delay their CPD start date to a future date.
For example, if a User started employment in January 2018 but the CPD year runs from 1 September, they can set the year to start on 1 September 2018 rather than 1 September 2017.
When selected, you can choose to Hide periods before CPD start date. This prevents Users from viewing previous CPD years when reviewing their CPD Log.
Choose the option you would like to use for the Reflective Statement from the Reflective Statement dropdown menu.
Mandatory When Completed | The User will need to add a Reflective Statement to an Activity they have completed before it counts towards their total completed CPD. |
Mandatory | The User will need to add a Reflective Statement only when they manually add an Activity to their log. |
Non Mandatory | The Reflective Statement field will be optional. |
No Reflective Statement | The Reflective Statement box will not be visible to the User. |
If the Reflective Statement is set to Mandatory or Mandatory When Completed, you must define a minimum length of characters, greater than 0.
Setting a minimum length encourages a more considered entry when a User completes the Reflective Statement.
Editable Fields
The Editable Fields section sets how the Development Need and Learning Outcome fields look for Activities that are completed on the LMS and are automatically added to the CPD Log upon completion. CPD Activities that are added manually by a User are not affected by these settings.
Choose the options you would like to use from the dropdown menus.
Read only | The field will be pre-populated with details from the Activity and cannot be amended. |
Editable - not pre-populated | The field will be blank and can be amended. |
Editable - pre-populated | The field will be pre-populated with details from the Activity but can be amended. |
No field | The field will be hidden (you will not be able to make the field Mandatory if you select this option). |
Don't forget that the Editable Fields options work in conjunction with the Mandatory Fields options you have selected.
Click on the Save button to save your changes.
Please note that you will not be able to save any changes if the Reflective Statement is set to Mandatory or Mandatory When Completed and the Minimum Reflective Statement Length box is set to 0.
